Study Medicine in Slovakia at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine

Part of the esteemed Comenius University in Bratislava, the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine was fully integrated as a complete Faculty of Medicine in 1969. It is the only Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University located outside Bratislava and is consistently ranked as Slovakia’s number one medical school based on the Slovak University Ranking and Rating Association, as well as considered one of the top medical schools in Central Europe.

Jessenius Faculty of Medicine is a highly respected research institution, regularly conducting scientific research and opening new horizons in science and education. Freedom and democracy in education and the community is key as creating excellent conditions for education and academic rights are vital to student success. Jessenius Faculty of Medicine is the headquarters of three National Centers of Excellence, funded through the Science and Research program of the EU. These cutting-edge institutions emphasize innovation.

The Jessenius Faculty of Medicine campus comprises four buildings located on Little Hill, including the historical M. R. Štefánik building. All pre-clinical medical departments, such as anatomy and physiology are located in the main building. Clinical teaching is conducted at the Martin University Hospital.

There are two main campus residential halls with the Little Hostel traditionally being the housing for foreign students. An on-campus, apartment-style residence hall called Faculty House is also available.

Graduates of Jessenius Faculty of Medicine 6-year program are awarded the academic degree Doctor of General Medicine (“MUDr”) and in the field of Dentistry, “Doctor of Dentistry” (“MDDr”) and can practice or continue education in most countries around the world.
