Odessa National Medical University (ONMU)

Odessa National Medical University (ONMU)

Founded in 1900, Odessa National Medical University (ONMU) is one of the oldest medical universities in Europe.

In 1996, ONMU became the first university in Ukraine to offer medical education in English. In the  2005,  ONMU received an award for the development of modern model teaching in English from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Odessa National Medical University offers a MBBS program which is recognised by the International Association of Universities and the European University Association.

The university is located in Odessa, the 3rd largest city in Ukraine located in the south-eastern part of a country. Odessa is an energetic cosmopolitan city, which is home to Ukraine’s biggest commercial port and home to one million people.

Odessa is famous for its beautiful and clean beaches that are stretched for tens of kilometres along the Black Sea. The beach season in Odessa lasts from the end of May to September, but at other times it is always possible to walk along the beaches and promenades, admiring sea views.

Odessa is a very cultural city which is home to many theatres, galleries and museums. There is also great nightlife in Odessa with numerous night clubs, discos and bars.

The summers are warm and mostly clear and the winters are cold and dry. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 24°F to 84°F and is rarely below 8°F or above 92°F. The warm season lasts from May to September  with an average daily high temperature above 74°F.  The cold season lasts from November to March with an average daily high temperature below 44°F.
