Founded in 1361, the University of Pavia is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe. The same year marks the beginning of the Faculty of Medicine. Today, around 24,000 students study at the reknowned Pavia medical university, 1,500 of whom are from abroad.
The 6-year study program of Medicine and Surgery is known as “Harvey Medicine”. The unique program, which is the first of its kind in Italy, is aimed at international students. The language of instruction at University of Pavia is English.
The lecturers include experienced scientists and clinicians who, due to their active role in their profession, are up on the latest advancements and teach Pavia medical school students with the up-to-date materials. Its Laboratory of Applied Nuclear Energy operates its own nuclear reactor for research purposes. Here, radioisotopes are used for the treatment of cancer.
